BlackBerry KeyOne with a Snapdragon 820 and QWERTY keyboard

BlackBerry's next smartphone is the KeyOne -- a promising Android phone targeted toward people who prefer physical keyboards. The company just postponed its release date to after May.

BlackBerry's KeyOne is a promising Android phone targeted toward people who prefer physical keyboards, as well as BlackBerry's suite of secure apps

lackBerry kicked its own Rim Main system to the control a year ago in favor of the more popular Google android OS, and it no longer manufactures its own phones. But the Waterloo company isn't exiting the company anytime soon. Rather, Rim has partnered with Far east company TCL to release Android phones under the BlackBerry manufacturer. Its latest phone is the KeyOne, a traditional BlackBerry mobile phone with a full QWERTY keyboard

If you are ignorant, TCL manufactures telephones under the Alcatel brand. BlackBerry's first devices under the new partnership with TCL were the DTEK50 and DTEK60, which are rebranded Alcatel phones reported and released toward the end of 2016. Every of them carry the same software experience that includes the BlackBerry Centre, the DTEK security software, and the famed Blackberry mobile phones Messenger (BBM). The same applies for the KeyOne. What makes the KeyOne unique in comparison to the company's first Google android smartphone with a computer keyboard -- the Priv -- is the product's rate.

"In hindsight, it was probably not the location for us to punch off the first Google android device, " Bruce Walpole, basic manager of Rim Flexibility, told Digital Tendencies about the Priv. "If I actually was to express where performed we maybe misstep? Most likely the tier -- the product is still surface breaking due to slider but in aiming to be everything to everyone... anyone with necessarily best in category. in .
Unfortunately, BlackBerry may be having some issues with the KeyOne as it has just late the launch date.

Pricing and availability

The KeyOne was initially expected to arrive in April, but it now seems like you’ll have to wait a little bit longer if you want to get your hands on BlackBerry’s latest. During a recent earnings call, BlackBerry CEO John Chen announced the worldwide release has now been pushed back to after May, with TCL slated to begin production at the end of April. No further information on availability was given during the call, but at Mobile World Congress the company said the KeyOne will cost $550 in the U.S. and will be available both unlocked and from various carriers.

We’ll update this article when we receive final release date information

Something different

BlackBerry’s latest mantra is “Distinctly Different.” There are a ton of all-glass Android slabs on the market, but hardly any with a physical keyboard. The company understands that while there may not be many people that want a physical keyboard anymore, there’s still a market for it. It’s why the DTEK60 and DTEK50 exist as alternative choices for people who want big screens with BlackBerry brand name as well

For all you hardcore BlackBerry fans, the KeyOne’s unique quality is its backlit QWERTY keyboard with capacitive gesture capabilities, akin to the physical keyboard on the Priv. That means you can swipe up and down, left and right on the keyboard to move through your home screen, or even scroll through apps.

A fingerprint sensor is embedded into the space bar on the front of the device. We couldn’t test it out yet, but it’s a unique way of adding the sensor onto the front panel, rather than extending the bezel to accommodate it. Above the keyboard are capacitive navigation buttons that offer strong haptic feedback.

The device carries a rectangular shape that’s quite elongated due to the physical keyboard, but the screen — protected by Gorilla Glass 4 — is only 4.5-inches. It’s easy to hold with one hand, but it can be slippery at times. That’s in part due to the soft-touch textured back.

The KeyOne is a little chunky and it feels like a brick — that’s not an accident. The company was quick to remind me of the days when its devices were known for their durability. BlackBerry is confident the anodized aluminum frame that surrounds the phone will protect the device from most accidental drops.

There is a headphone jack and down-firing speakers. Sitting in between the speakers is a USB Type-C charging port. The power button is on the left, and the volume rocker is on the right above the Convenience Key. The Convenience Key, which is available on the DTEK60 and the DTEK50, is a customizable hotkey for specific apps or tools, such as the camera.

Speaking of customizable keys, KeyOne owners will be able to create up to 52 shortcuts with every key on the keyboard. For example, you can set a quick press on “I” to open Instagram, and a long-press on “I” to open your inbox.

It only comes with 32GB of internal storage, but there’s a MicroSD card slot that allows for expandable storage up to 2TB. It also has an NFC sensor, meaning you will be able to take advantage of Android Pay.

The front camera packs 8 megapixels, and it can take 1,080p videos at 30 frames-per-second with video and image stabilization. The rear camera has 12 megapixels (with large 1.55µm pixels), and it uses the same Sony IMX378 sensor as the Google Pixel. The camera took great shots indoors with decent lighting and there was very little shutter lag, but in low-light areas, some images were blurry.

A security-focused Android 7.1.1

The KeyOne runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and BlackBerry’s mobile team will continue to issue digitally-signed security updates for the device — including Google’s monthly security updates for Android.

t’s clear that even with the price tag, BlackBerry is not interested in the flagship tier for this phone. Still, for the processor it has the $550 price may be a little too high compared to competitor’s devices — you can get a phone with a Snapdragon 820 for as low as $400 after all, and last year’s flagships are seeing price cuts as successors are on the horizon.

From our brief tests, the KeyOne seems like a good smartphone — and it’s hard to find one these days with a solid keyboard. The price may be justified.

Highs

  • Runs near-stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat
  • BlackBerry is promising fast security updates
  • Physical keyboard has gesture capabilities
  • Solid build quality
  • Fast, smooth performance

Lows

  • Keyboard feels a little cramped
  • On the bulkier-end of phones
  • Slightly blurry photos in low-light

How to find missing AirPods with Find My iPhone

Missing an AirPod or two? Use Find My AirPods to track down those pesky buds.

There's no getting around it: the AirPods are small. It's what happens when you chop the cord off a set of in-ear buds; they don't have much mass, and if you don't remember to store them in their pillbox case, you may find yourself frantically searching for an earbud or two.

Thankfully, if you've accidentally misplaced one of your AirPods, iOS 10.3 and Apple's Find My iPhone app will let you hunt it down as long as you're within Bluetooth range.

To start, you'll need both iOS 10.3 and the Find My iPhone app.

How to find missing AirPods earbuds

Note: This feature is primarily to locate individual missing AirPods earbuds — the AirPods case itself doesn't have speakers, and the earbuds themselves won't make a sound until they come within range of your iPhone.

1.Open (or download, if you don't yet have it) Find My iPhone.

2.with your iCloud account.

3.Tap on the entry for your AirPods.

4.Select Actions.

5.Press Play Sound.

6. Both earbuds will start making a triplicate chirp — quietly at first, then increasing in volume. If you're trying to find just one of the buds, you can mute the left or right earbud to focus in on finding the other earbud.

Still can't find your earbuds?

If your missing AirPods earbud is out of charge, you may be out of luck in locating it via the Find My iPhone app. That said, you can still go about finding it the old-fashioned way — back-tracking where you had them previously.

And if you've exhausted all other options, you can always pay a lost AirPods fee to Apple to get a new earbud — it's just $69 per lost bud.

Questions?

New Apple headquarters in California - Open in April

The new Apple campus, dubbed “Apple Park,” will open in April, the iPhone maker said on Wednesday.
Although the first wave of employees will begin moving to the new headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., In the spring of the Northern Hemisphere, it will take about six months until all 12,000 workers make the transition, Apple said.
Apple also said it will name the company’s co-founder Steve Jobs to the theater for a thousand seats in the new futuristic venue. Jobs helped design the 708-thousand-square-foot campus before his death in 2011.

“Steve invested a lot of his energy creating and supporting vital and creative environments,” said Jony Ive, Apple’s design director, in a statement. “We are dedicated to designing, engineering and building our new campus with the same enthusiasm and design principles that characterize our products.”

Apple has paid close attention to every aspect of the campus, including the main building of more than 260,000 square meters, examining in detail even hidden areas such as wiring and pipes, Reuters reported earlier this month.

Apple’s high standards have contributed to delays in the project, former construction managers said. A door handle, for example, took at least a year and a half to be designed, according to a former construction manager. Apple unveiled plans for its new headquarters in 2011.

Viral:- Discover The New "Super Earth"

An international team of astronomers has found 60 new planets orbiting stars close to earth's solar system, including a rocky "super Earth."
The recently- discovered Earth-like planet called Proxima b. is about 4 light years from Earth. This new discovery has certainly piqued the interest of various astronomy experts across the globe.

A single planet in particular, Gliese 411b, has been making plenty of attention. Referred to as a "hot very Earth with a rugged surface, " Gliese 411b is positioned in the fourth-nearest star system to the Sun, so that it is the third-nearest planetary system to the Sun, in line with the U. T. 's University of Hertfordshire, which participated in your research. Gliese 411b (also known as GJ 411b or Lalande 21185) orbits the star Gliese 411 (or GJ 411

Despite the "super Earth" label, Medical professional. Mikko Tuomi from University or college of Hertfordshire's Centre for Astrophysics told Fox Information that Gliese 411b is too hot for life to exist on their surface.

Gliese 411 and Gliese 411b can be found almost 8 light years from globe. A light year, which measures distance in space, equals 6 trillion a long way.

By way of comparability, the recently-discovered Earth-like world Proxima b, which orbits the red dwarf Proxima Centauri, is all about 4 light years from Earth. A red dwarf is a relatively cool small celebrity.

The discoveries derive from correction taken over 20 years by U. S. astronomers using the Keck-I telescope in Hawaii as part of the Lick-Carnegie Exoplanet Survey. During the course of the research, experts obtained almost 61, 1000 observations of 1, six hundred stars, which are now available to the population.

London GP: Formula 1's new owners

Among Formula 1's long-held dreams was being reimagined within times of Liberty Media's takeover of the sport last week - a London Grand Prix.

The brand new F1 owners' vision of "destination" races, featuring week-long events in major towns in the US and further afield, soon offered rise to the inescapable 'London question' in Pursuit Carey's first round of interviews as the sport's new chief executive.
"London is a great city, and there is without a doubt [you think of it] when you think where are the cities you want to be in, " Carey told PA. "We have Silverstone in the UK, but I recognise it is not in London, uk. inch

The start of new eras is usually the time for big thinking and the idea of bringing a Method 1 event to the UK's most populous city certainly falls into this category.

Fantasy or possible?

"We've been talking about London for 10-20 years and i also know that Chase and Freedom would like to go to all or any the big urban centers, " remarked British Rushing Drivers' Club president Derek Warwick to Sky Sports activities News HQ.

"But can you imagine holding a Grand Prix around Hyde Park? Never. "

The prospect of London either joining, or replacing, Silverstone on an F1 routine of the future remains a hard prospect to envisage, despite the clear ambition and clout of the sport's new owners.

In 2012, Santander whetted the appetite for what could be performed by commissioning architects Populous, the design firm behind Silverstone's Wing complex and Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, to come up with a SPECIAL design and feasibility analyze for a London contest.

The mock-up featured a track which passed attractions including Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square and made a lot of pleasure at the time - so much so that some reports would have you believe it depicted a full-blown proposal for a race.

Silverstone has made obvious of the problems turning an earnings on its F1 agreement, but the BRDC is now confident Liberty's appearance will help correct that financial imbalance by soothing the restrictions over certain areas of its offer.

Seventy miles south, and the stumbling blocks around any race on the streets of the Britian's most populous city are myriad.

Questions around facilities, safety, transport disruption and, most pressingly of all, finance remain as unanswered as ever before. Past F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, who had long mentioned taking the sport to the main city, delivered a masterclass in understatement in May possibly 2016 when ruminating about a London GP.

"There is a tiny technical concern - who is heading to pay for it? But besides that, I cannot see any dramas, very well he said.

However, one hurdle was eased in 2015 through the moving of the Deregulation Work, which includes a supply to make it easier for motorsport events to be held on open public roads.

Then-Prime Minister David Cameron said: "We have a great tradition of motorsport in the us and today we are getting British motor racing rear to British roads, to benefit local communities. This means more races, more events, more money getting into our country and more success for this incredible industry. inch

Yet taking the centre of Greater london, a city of 8m people and with a yearly tourist footfall of over 30m, to an incomplete standstill for the three times of a Grand Prix race weekend - plus the long lead-up time to build a street circuit - requires a sizable leap of imagination.

With ambitions of races in New You are able to and Las Vegas, F1's new owners are certainly thinking big. But 1 day bringing F1 to Birmingham remains a tough group of friends to square.

Will F1 use London as a shop window?

But while a full-blown London Grand Prix may remain a romantic notion, what's more feasible in the brief term are events in the capital to increase the British GP at Silverstone.

"With Silverstone, we want to help them promote the race, inches Carey told the Postal mail on Sunday. "When there is an NFL game in London, the retail outlets in Regent Street are packed with it.

"We might like to do that sort of thing with the British Grand Prix and also make the event broader, with the race at the centre of the full weekend show. inch

A hugely-successful Regent Street demonstration of F1 cars in 2005, attended by more than 250, 000 fans, certainly showcased the thing that was possible and, as Carey points out, the NFL makes their occurrence felt when workplace set ups its International sequences of games each autumn.

'NFL on Official Road' is presently a yearly occasion, with one of London's most famous extends of street moved toward a fan stop to amplify advancement around the landing of American Football in the UK.

Notwithstanding the probability of Freedom extricating the ties around territories in which Silverstone can straightforwardly boost its own particular benefits, London could yet have a part to play in supporting the achievement of England's set up GP scene

From that point forwards, an iindustry held the long way, the electric motor force expanded from a couple torque to a few hundred, and even showed up earth charitable autos, electric autos. Encouraging power module innovation, so far nobody has made sense of how to make them safe. Exactly what is more, what 's next?

Next - the atomic vitality. The organization Laser beam Power Systems ( USA) covered the work on atomic innovation for normal engine vehicles. In this auto rather than the standard fuel will used the atomic reactor. It is weight - 227 pounds. The premise of development lay ninetieth element of the occasional table - thorium. The strategy includes the creation the thorium laser component. The guideline is exceptionally straightforward, the laser warms the drinking water and transforms it into steam, which turns a turbine, wheels are working and the auto trips. It is evaluated that you gram of thorium apportions as much warmth as 28, 000 liters of gas. The organization's positives we hope that 8 - ten grams of thorium enough to machine, under the hood which set a reactor, without refueling will serve for about 100 years.

Although not terminated lifetime of the auto, would not require a refuel. Is usually that the top up some water into the reactor, that not over standard. May want to trust that researchers Laser Power Devices make reasonably the trustworthy guarded unit, that not will give the rays spill and won't grant the reactor to mastermind a little Chernobyl

As indicated by secret inside sources addressing the production, when the Galaxy X first goes on special, it'll be available in the U. K., Philippines, Italy, South Korea, Portugal, Poland, and Nordic international locations. A select form for the U. K. merchant Carphone Warehouse is also recorded. We can't prove this data, so bring it with a wheat of salt.

The Circumstance. S. isn't said, and in spite of the fact that it's efficiently not official, limiting the smartphone's dispatch would fit in with Samsung's later technique. Samsung has recently been exploring different avenues regarding dispatching diverse devices in various areas, dubiously choosing to maintain the Galaxy Notice 5 away from Circumstance. K. what's more, The european union. Could Project Valley be an "architect" cell phone that is about the look, which Samsung says is the thing that the spot is searching for? Assuming this is the case, a U. S. dispatch may well not come rapidly.

What about the particulars?

On the off chance that portions of gossip are to be trusted, Samsung's next Galaxy could don a great set of shooters and a front line show. As indicated by a report from Chinese web journal Wccftech, the Korean language organization's next lead will brandish an AMOLED display with a determination of 4K (2160 x 3840), in addition to a double back confronting camera module. The very last mentioned, extraordinarily, will purportedly be totally sourced from Samsung's own camera division -- as opposed to the Galaxy S7, a few models of which pressed Sony-made sensors.

A 4K mobile phone screen may seem to be like pointless excess, however online the truth was obviously one of Samsung's concentration; higher-determination screens can potentially essentially enhance drenching in cell phone based VR peripherals like Samsung's Galaxy Gear. Exactly what is more, it isn't radical, either: in March, the organization demoed a 5. 5-inch "high determination for VR" 4K board in San Francisco.

A increase camera module, in the interim, could add a major change in photograph quality: in principle, such photographers can convey everything from improved zoom capacities to more beautiful, definite pictures in low light. Manufacturers are as of this moment bouncing on the short-term fad: LG's G5 includes an increase sensor shooter, along with Huawei's P9. It more than likely amaze to see The samsung company take action accordingly.

Samsung korea is supposedly trying two variations of its future lead, with the basic principle contrast being the cpu. One has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 620, while different has the Snapdragon 820 or 830. These are some of the most up to date cpus from Qualcomm that component Quick Charge 3. zero, yet in the event that a dispatch is slated for 2017, it can probable Samsung will choose something fresher not much off.

The main different technical specs that were uncovered with this report incorporate 3GB of RAM, a MicroSD space for extended stockpiling, and a non-removable battery pack. The nearness of a MicroSD space will be invited by numerous, yet it's improbable this cell phone will be all that moderate, at any rate early on.

We'll continue redesigning this information as we take in more about Samsung's Galaxy X.
